The Metcon 8 AMP is Nike’s go-to model for training. With a lighter, more breathable upper than the previous edition, Version 8.0 helps athletes float through their cardio, power through lifts, and dominate their workouts. The gradient on the 8 AMP, angled at 30 degrees, goes from light to dark on the midsole and back again from dark to light, mimicking the sun rising and setting during the solstice. It’s also inspired by the optimal angle range for performing squats (10-30 degrees).

Because it’s part of the Metcon 8 series, the rest of the AMP’s specs are similarly engineered to the demands of championship athletes. This includes a lighter upper with improved airflow, React foam for optimal comfort and cushioning, grooves in the sole to let your forefoot bend naturally, and lock-down lace tabs to prevent untying during high-intensity training. The shoe’s wide flexible heel also has an inner plate that distributes weight from edge to edge for added stability, while rubber wraps along the arch offer better traction on rope climbs.
